JOB TITLE:  Media Specialist 

REPORTS TO:  Communications Manager

OVERALL MISSION:

To serve Christ by serving the people at All Saints through creating and managing media content for the purpose of formation in order that All Saints might live as the body of Christ in Austin for the world.

SCOPE OF POSITION: 

The Media Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with the Communications Manager in the oversight of All Saints' digital communication channels in order to maintain consistency in the outward face of All Saints.

HOURS:

Estimated at approximately 25-35 hours/week.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

General Responsibilities:

  • Attend and contribute to semi-monthly Full Staff meetings for formation and alignment.

  • Maintain devotion to Christ through regular participation in the Formation Practices of the church.

Specific Responsibilities:

Livestream and Video Content Management (8-12hrs)

  • Oversee livestream operations, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and recruiting operators for Sunday services and special events.

  • Serve as livestream operator at least twice a month on Sunday mornings and as needed for events.

  • Serve as livestream operator for Wednesday morning Women’s Bible Study (Fall and Spring)

  • Prepare and update livestream slides for Sunday services using Canva and Google Slides, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Lead the creation of video content from concept to completion, including filming, editing, and publishing across various platforms (website, social media, YouTube) in alignment with the overall Communications strategy.

  • Manage and schedule video content publication for All Saints, ensuring timely posting of services, sermon clips, and other media.

Podcast and Media Production (8-10hrs)

  • Lead the technical development and launch of the church's podcast, from equipment selection and setup to first episode publication, in collaboration with the Communications Manager.

  • Manage all technical aspects of ongoing podcast production, including studio/equipment setup, audio recording, high-quality editing (in-house or overseeing outsourced editing), and final episode publishing to Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

  • Ensure optimal audio quality for all podcast recordings, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.

  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager to ensure a smooth technical recording process for guests and pastoral/ministerial staff.

  • Upload podcast episodes to hosting platforms, manage RSS feeds, and maintain metadata for discoverability.

Digital and Social Media Coordination (10-12hrs)

  • Assist in creating, planning, and posting social media content, working alongside the Communications Manager.

  • Manage the church website, ensuring content is current, user-friendly, and aligned with the church’s mission.

  • Manage the church's YouTube channel, including uploading video content (sermons, shorts), optimizing for YouTube Studio, and understanding basic analytics.

  • Maintain an organized visual resource library for staff use, including photos, videos, and graphics.

  • Manage and troubleshoot the church mobile apps.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  8. Working competency with digital communication streams (i.e. websites, mobile apps, social media, podcasts)

  9. Proven experience in launching and producing podcasts, including technical setup (microphone selection, mixers, recording environment), multi-track audio recording, editing, and distribution via major podcast hosting platforms.

  10. Proficiency with audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Audacity, Descript, Hindenburg, or similar).

  11. Experience with YouTube Studio, including video uploading, content optimization, playlist management, and basic performance analytics.

  12. Strong working knowledge of livestreaming equipment (cameras, video switchers, audio mixers, encoders) and software (e.g., OBS, StreamYard, ProPresenter, or similar church presentation/streaming software).

CLASSIFICATION: 

Part-time, <29 hrs/wk, non-exempt per FLSA, non-ministerial for IRS purposes, "ministerial exception" per DOL-WHD/FLSA, operations staff.
